1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by your web browser. It allows a site to remember information between your visits (login state, preferences) or during the current session.
NewWorldChat also uses other local storage technologies: localStorage (for cache and interface preferences) and sessionStorage (for temporary session data). These technologies are governed by the same privacy principles as cookies.
2. Cookies used by NewWorldChat
We use exclusively strictly necessary cookies for the operation of the service. No advertising, marketing-profiling or third-party tracking cookie is set without explicit consent.

3. Local storage used
- nwc-theme: theme preference (dark / light / system)
- nwc_session_invalidated: invalidated-session marker, prevents a reconnection loop
- nwc_tap_queue: local queue of taps waiting to be sent (offline persistence)
- nwc_pending_batches: unconfirmed batches to replay on load (mining idempotence)
- nwc_upsell_*: timestamps of promotional pop-ups shown (7-day cooldown per feature)
- nwc_session_kicked_by: information about the device that ended your session
- _update_checker_active: the tab responsible for version polling (prevents duplicate requests across tabs)
- nwc_audio_cache: offline audio cache (hash → local URL for replay)
4. Third-party cookies (sub-processors)
Some sub-processors (Hetzner/Coolify for hosting, Pusher, Daily.co) may set their own technical cookies necessary for their service to work. These cookies are not used to identify you or track you outside NewWorldChat. See our Sub-processors page for the full list.
5. Your choices
Strictly necessary cookies are essential to how the service works. Without them, you can neither log in nor access your account. They do not require your explicit consent (GDPR art. 7.4).
You may delete cookies at any time from your browser settings. Note that this will log you out and erase your local interface preferences.
6. No advertising cookies
NewWorldChat sets NO advertising or marketing-tracking cookie. We use neither Google Analytics, nor Facebook Pixel, nor any equivalent. All internal analysis (offer tracking, A/B testing) is done server-side, on data already collected as part of the service.
7. Changes
If we change our use of cookies (adding an audience-measurement cookie, for example), we will inform you through a consent banner before activation. This page will be updated with the detailed list.
